We are happy to announce that WordPress 5.0 is released today! As promised by the core WordPress team, from today you can download and install WordPress 5.0! If you are an existing WordPress user, it is the high time to get your WordPress site an update!
The latest WordPress 5.0 is named in homage to the pioneering Cuban jazz musician, Bebo Valdés. His full name is Dionisio Ramón Emilio Valdés Amaro.
This version of WordPress includes a number of revolusionary ideas and imagination that can take your websites to a new level that is far from future. Let’s see what we got in this version.
The Gutenberg Editor
Have you played with blocks before? Yes, I’m saying about the blocks that we used to play with and make buildings, designs and created things that we could imagine.
Gutenberg Editor is based on the idea of blocks. Whatever you can think of can be integrated into your site. The official WordPress introduction video can be watched below.
By default, you will get the following blocks that come with the installation of your new WordPress!
- Common Blocks
- Layout Elements
- Funny or Die
- Speaker Deck
You can even find a lot of plugins out there to add more block to your new WordPress. You may try our new plugins: Ninja Gutenberg Blocks and Guten Post Layout. They have a lot of blocks you would ever need for now.
The new Gutenberg editor will not change the way any of your content looks to your visitors. What it will do is let you insert any type of multimedia in a snap and rearrange to your heart’s content. Each piece of content will be in its own block; a distinct wrapper for easy manoeuvring. If you’re more of an HTML and CSS sort of person, then the blocks won’t stand in your way. WordPress is here to simplify the process, not the outcome. You can easily code for your blocks as you want. There is an option to add custom CSS to most of the blocks for making the blocks look even better.
